Deviance
Usually hearing the word deviance most people would assume that this is only a negative word, but this can also be used as a positive word. Doing something deviant is rather just doing something you would not normally do. For my deviant experiment, I chose to clean the dishes. One night after dinner, I got up from my chair walked over to the dish washer and just started cleaning everything. My parents thought this was really strange because they know that they have to really push me in order to clean something. I never do the dishes so after i did them, they asked me what I wanted. I replied by saying, "I don't want anything, I don't know why you would make that assumption just because I did something nice that i normally wouldn't do." I knew that they would have this reaction, but they told me that they also felt proud of me because it showed signs of maturity. After the experiment I actually felt good about doing this, even though they weren't strangers to me, I still felt good for helping my family out and making their lives easier. It doesn't take a lot to create a positive deviant experience.

I am totally agree with you that deviance sounds like negative but it is positive. Also, I like your experiment about cleaning dishes after dinner. Sometimes parents does think that we need or want something but really we are doing something good for them. Good job.

ReplyDeleteI agree that it's nice to be deviant sometimes. Doing positive things that you don't normally do benefits you and those around you.
